Dear colleagues,
As current chair of SIS, I have been meaning to touch base with you all for a while now. I've been delayed by the ongoing SALALM website work and the ongoing membership renewal period (and, yes, the two are interconnected). However, as it currently stands, this is the list of SIS group members I have for 2022-2023. That said, this is an open group and any SALALM member can join at any time. If you know someone who is not currently on this list that you think should be, please consider dropping them a line. If they are unsure how to enroll in the group through the website, they can contact me for assistance.

I would like to schedule a meeting sometime in the new year toward the end of January/early Februrary to be able to connect, share information, and discuss any issues of common concern. However, I would like to first solicit your ideas on:

  • How you'd like this group to function (meeting frequency, etc.)
  • Possible projects we could initiate or collaborate on
  • Resources/trends that we could discuss as a group
  • Collections or exhibits of interest
  • and/or Possible panels we could propose for the next SALALM conference in June 2023

I want to stress that this group can be as formal or informal as we choose. I realize we all have a lot going on and I am not trying to add to anyone's workload. But, at a minimum, I'd like to meet once in the spring semester and once again around the time of the conference.

How does that sound? Please reply all or reply directly to me with your ideas and preferences. I really appreciate it! (For additional context, this is my first time chairing this group and I am not entirely sure how this group has functioned in the past, so any information long-time members can provide would be most helpful!)

Como el encargado actual de SIS, he tenido la intención de comunicarme con ustedes desde hace un tiempo.
